Benue: Sen Mark Appears Before Tribunal August 18

The National Assembly Petition sitting in Makurdi on Thursday fixed August 18, 2015 for former Senate , David to appear before the tribunal and testify in person.

Confirming this story, following our earlier reports this week, Mark’s Counsel, Mr Kenneth Ikonne, told the tribunal on Thursday that his client would be appearing in person to testify during the next adjourned date to enable him close his case.

The declaration of Senator Mark as winner of the Benue South Senatorial District election, which returned him to the upper legislative house for a fifth term in office, is being challenged by Daniel of the All Progressives Congress.

Onjeh had argued that the elections were marred by electoral malpractices and substantial breaches of the Electoral Act 2011 as amended.

He also averred that INEC officials were compromised and voters were financially induced by the agents at the various polling units in the district.

Meanwhile, Daniel Onjeh has alleged that several associates of Senator Mark have made contacts with him begging him to drop his case against Mark.

But, an aide to the former senate president denied such allegations.
