Could the saying, ‘what a man can do, a woman can do better’, have contributed to the naming of a woman to handle the affairs of the Independent National Electoral Commission for the next four years? After all, men have always occupied that honourable position right from 1999.
But, the question remains: Can a woman really handle the pressure that may be mounted on her when the 2019 general elections in Nigeria comes around the corner?
#President #Buhari may be adjudged to be crawling, but it appears he knows exactly what he is doing in naming a woman to held #INEC in the meantime. In as much as the appointment is not on a permanent basis, who knows if the appointment may not be made permanent?
Here is the press release:.
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mrs Amina Bala #Zakari as the Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) following the conclusion of the term of Office of Prof. Attahiru Jega.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Barr. Danladi Kifasi who conveyed the appointment in a letter, said it is with effect from 30th June 2015 until the appointment of a substantive Chairman.
