Buhari Will Not Probe Corrupt Leaders Who Return The Money They Looted – Says El-rufai

When the incoming led administration take over the mantle of leadership on May 29, 2015, how would they deal with corrupt leaders? How would they handle those who have looted from the Nigerian treasury?

Kaduna Governor-elect and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has given a hint as par how past corrupt politicians and leaders of the country would be treated.

Speaking to the executive members of the National Union of Textile Garments and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria on Tuesday May 12, 2015, el-Rufai said that the best way to handle all corrupt leaders was to politely ask them to return they money they looted from treasury.

This, according to him, was the only escape route for corrupt leaders from getting probed by the administration.

El-Rufai said, “We will politely ask those who stole government money to return the funds. This is because the people, who are in government now, are there to work for themselves. But the government is made up of people who are ready to work for the masses and the betterment of the country.

The also confirmed that the Buhari administration would inherit a huge debt from the Goodluck Jonathan government, reports The PUNCH.

Thus, it was of great necessity to go after those who have looted from the country in order for the APC government to have the needed funds to implement the manifesto they promised Nigerians.

From the above information, it could be inferred that the recent closed door meeting between -elect, Muhammadu Buhari, and former president Olusegun Obasanjo, may have been related to the issue of corrupt past leaders and politicians returning their loots back to the Nigerian treasury.

Irrespective of how all these play out, one thing is certain: Nigeria is set to experience the dawn of democratic style of leadership.
