CSOs Condemn Call For Oyegun’s Resignation

The Network of Civil Society Organizations have called on the leadership of the National Assembly under Senate Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, to cooperate with the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (#) and respect the supremacy of the party.

In a statement issued in Abuja by the national publicity secretary, Mr. Lawal Bamidele, the group also passed a vote of confidence on Chief John Oyegun, national chairman of the APC amidst calls for his resignation with the following affirmations;

“We call on the entire party leadership organogram to give the National Working Committee (NWC) members of the party the needed support and synergy which they so much needed for greater performance in formulating better administrative initiatives.

“We adjure the National Assembly under the leadership of His Excellency Sen. Bukola Saraki for the Senate and Hon. Yakubu Dogara for the House of Representatives to cooperate with the party leadership and respect the supremacy of the party above personal interest.

“It is rather unfortunate and distractive that certain individuals are calling for the resignation of the National Chairman at this time when he has barely led the party to accomplish unprecedented fit of defeating a seating President – a fit which rather demands commendation as against condemnation.

Life, as they saying goes, is not always the bed of roses but that does not mean that all fingers are equal.

Everyone must try to identify their weaknesses and work towards their strengths and capabilities.

Different people have different gifts and talents and graces flowing on certain people are not comparable to others.

It is, therefore, not surprising that while some leaders of the nation may be massively backed in the midst of crisis, others may not even see the light of the day.

Oyegun must be counting his stars to still have groups who believe in him despite the fact that he has come under massive pressure in recent weeks following the lingering crisis tearing the APC Apart.
