Having been declared the winner of the April governorship election and subsequently sworn in on May 29 as the new number one citizen of #Rivers State, #Nyesom Wike has once again been involved in another controversy.
The latest controversy sterns from his declaration on Sunday that he would be staying away from the #Rivers state government house for the next three months, alleging that the #government house was not befitting enough for him following a series of vandalism by the immediate past administration.
This action of the governor to stay away from the government house is not surprising, for he had declared prior to taking over on Friday that he was ready to carryout a forensic audit of the former Governor #Rotimi Amaechi administration.
According to The Punch, the governor disclosed that he noticed that the bullet proof doors, furniture, cars, crested carpets, curtains and windows were not left behind by the former administration.
#Wike explained that he was able to observe the missing items during an inspection of the Government House after he was sworn in as the state’s chief executive.
He said, “As I speak with you, everything has been vandalised. I will not enter the Government House in the next two or three months. There is no vehicle in Government House, not even one. Yet the former governor (Rotimi Amaechi) talks about corruption.”
The governor assured the people that he would not disappoint them and the Peoples Democratic Party.
Okocha maintained that the property in the Government House were intact before the immediate past administration left.
