Twelve Senators elected on the platform of the All progressives Congress in the North East have feigned ignorance on the purportedly endorsement of Senator Ahmed Lawan as the #Senate president of the #8th Assembly.
We reported few days ago that both the APC and the PDP have unanimously endorsed Senator Lawan as the next senate #president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Our report was based on the argument that the Leadership of the #APC had zoned the #senate presidency to the North East and equally anointed Lawan; this move was to align with the interest of #PDP, with Sen. #David Mark and other members of the party backing Lawan as well.
It appears, however, that the twelve #APC senators from the North East are either ignorant of the latest political changes in their party or are not happy with the changes.
No wonder the lawmakers, led by Senator Danjuma Goje ( Gombe Central) at a news conference, as reported by PUNCH, said they were still pleading with the leadership of the party to zone the position to their region.
They equally alleged that Lawan was not endorsed by their caucus; explaining that they had not picked anyone as the consensus candidate.
“We don’t know anything about the endorsement of anybody from the North-East being reported on the pages of newspapers.
“We disassociate ourselves from any endorsement from other zones because the party has not zoned any position to us yet and we don’t want to jump the gun.”
